My mother was Lida Isabel Johnson Newman.

In this picture, taken in 1946, she is standing in front of her home at 117 1/2 P Street.




Lida Isabel Johnson was born on September 1, 1900 to John Atkins and Mary Johnson. This picture was taken when she was about 5 months old.





Mary Johnson was from Virginia. Two of her brothers were Lemuel Johnson and Henry Johnson. Her sister was Eliza Johnson Ross.

This picture of her may have been taken in during the 1890's.


This is a picture of John Atkins (possibly taken in the late 1890's). He had a brother, Thomas, and a sister, Cecile whom we called "Cecie".

The Atkins family was from Virgina, however during my lifetime, my maternal grandfather owned a home at 452 Ridge Street NW, Washington D.C.
